October 09, 2021

The Republic of Panama, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, could not fail to participate in Climate and Biodiversity Week, the first thematic week of Expo 2020 Dubai. From October 3 - 9, 2021, 192 countries came together for the same purpose: to see how to work together to better manage climate change and protect biodiversity.

During the week, the Republic of Panama Pavilion welcomed more than 4,000 visitors from around the world, surprising them with information and experiences that illustrated the immense biodiversity that the country contains.

The conference "Panama: Preserving the Hidden Gem of Global Biodiversity" was hosted on Tuesday, October 5. Highlights of the conference included a fascinating presentation by experts from the Biomuseo; the official launch of the water component of the Ministry of the Environment's "Reduce your Corporate Footprint" program; and the presentation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' "National Ocean Policy".

In addition to the programs and initiatives being carried out in the country, the achievements already obtained were highlighted, including being the second country in the world to comply with the UN's 30x30 Goal. It was also announced that Panama will have the honor of hosting the "Our Ocean" conference in 2023, cementing its place as a true Blue Leader.

Panama also held bilateral meetings with Commissioners General and directors of pavilions such as those of Singapore, Portugal, Argentina and Canada, for the creation of alliances and the promotion of such conference in 2023.

Although the Climate and Biodiversity week is coming to an end, Expo 2020 Dubai is just beginning. On the 20th of this month, Panama's National Day will be celebrated at the Expo, honoring our country; the Panamanian Anthem will resound in the Al Wasl Dome, our culture and folklore will be highlighted, and business forums, strategic bilateral meetings with important investors and leaders of the region will be held.
